Sophie's Snowsuit
The temperature in Beijing in January can range from an average high of 1C to an average low of -9C so we decided to make Sophie’s first North American purchase a snowsuit. Apparently snow is actually not that common in Beijing however the cold will be an adjustment to both Sophie, who comes from the warmer southern part of China, and us who come from the more temperate part of Canada (usually not snowy however this past week we had a foot of snow and temperatures down to -19C Brrrrrrrr... bring on the rain). We spend about a week in Beijing and in between doing paperwork we hope to be able to do some sightseeing with Sophie so the snowsuit should come in handy. It was hard to judge what size to buy, likely she will be lost inside the suit but maybe she will get 2 winters out of it. We thought a size reference was needed hence the foot in the picture. The past 2 weeks have been a whirlwind of paperwork including applications for China Visas, updated criminal record checks (I guess that is in case we have turned to a life of crime in the last 2 months), travel forms, and so on and so on. We hope to have our Travel Approval (TA) from China soon although in some cases people aren't getting it until just before they leave which must be a bit nerve racking.
