Getting very close

The CCAA recently updated their website to say that they have completed adoption referrals for parents with a Log in Date up to August 9, 2005. Our LID is August 24th so there is a chance we will be in the October referrals and travel in December. It still seems hard to believe that after almost 2 years we are getting this close!

Travel to Beijing in December (or January) will be cold so traveling light might be a challenge. The facilitator provides recommended packing list but with almost 3 weeks spent in China I am imagining hauling massive suitcases around (and my back is not liking it). Actually to save weight a lot of people use the laundry service in China which is very cheap. The only drawback is that the wash everything in VERY hot water so not a good idea to bring bright colours or tight fitting cotton.

We have been watching a lot of the Discovery Channel shows on China. It is an amazing country which is undergoing a huge transformation. Imagine that 1/2 of the concrete produced in the world today is being used in China. We hope to be able to see a few sights while we are there but of course we will have to see how our new DD is adjusting to us first.
