Memories of China - Volume 3
This is a two sided needlepoint that we saw when we visited the needlpoint museum and factory in Changsha. It is hard to imagine the amount of work that goes into creating one of these pieces. The threads are so fine that a magnifying glass is needed to pick them out.
This is a sample of one of the much larger pieces this would all have been done by hand. Amazing work.
Helen at the Great Wall.
On an extremely cold day in January our group went up the Badaling section of the Great Wall of China. This section is a good representation of the original stonework still in relatively good condition. It is also visited the most by the tourists except on cold windy January days like today. Meanwhile back at the Hotel all snug and warm waited Larry and Sophie....Heavy sigh!! I went up to the third tower and got a good view at the top left side of this picture and across to the right you can see part of the logo for the Beijing Olympics in August 2008. The vendors were extremely aggressive possibly due to the fact that they have to carry all their wares up the wall.
